When you think romantic getaway do you think lazy river, or luxury? Me too. Even though it’s in Orlando, the sticky kid on vacation capital of the world, the Ritz Carlton offers luxury vacation travel for adults to enjoy. We spent a quick weekend away for our anniversary, sans kids, and it was a little slice of paradise. From the quiet and peaceful entrance to the lobby (which smells amazing iykyk), to the small touches like a fresh fruit basket and waters in our room, and quiet areas to enjoy time together, we noticed a lot of the small and large details that were designed to help us feel at home. We stayed in a standard King room which was decorated nicely and felt very cozy. The resort also offers a wide selection of suites and even a club level to enjoy.

The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grand Lakes, is an oasis set on over 500 acres of lush, manicured grounds, offering an elevated escape in the heart of Central Florida. This elegant property redefines the Orlando experience by providing a tranquil retreat away from the bustling theme parks and tourist districts. From the moment you arrive, the resort’s sophisticated design, attentive service, and serene atmosphere set the tone for a stay that is both relaxing and indulgent. Guests can enjoy beautiful rooms with sweeping views, an 18-hole Greg Norman-designed golf course, and access to a full-service spa for ultimate rejuvenation. It truly is a luxury vacation travel experience in the heart of Florida’s tourist capital, Orlando.
Dining is a standout feature at the Ritz-Carlton, with a variety of exceptional restaurants serving everything from fresh farm-to-table cuisine to expertly crafted cocktails by the pool. The Knife & Spoon is their signature steakhouse which is MICHELIN recommended. If you would like a little more casual meal, the Highball & Harvest has a great menu with southern fare and delicious cocktails. We really enjoyed the fish tacos, burgers and cocktails poolside at the Bleu Pool Bar. There is also a Coffee House, First Drop, to get your caffeine needs or small bites like salads or sandwiches.
The resort also offers a range of activities, from kayaking through Shingle Creek to taking a leisurely stroll through the expansive grounds that feel more like a private park. Whether you’re lounging by the luxurious pool or savoring an intimate meal, every detail at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grand Lakes, is designed to provide an unparalleled experience of comfort and sophistication.
If your inner child gets bored with the pool, and just can’t stop thinking about that lazy river, then go next door. The connected sister property, JW Marriott Orlando, Grande Lakes, has the lazy river (and gaggle of sticky children) for you to enjoy. Just don’t forget your room key because there is an actual gate between the two pool areas, and you will need your key to return to the VIP section on the Ritz side of the resort to enjoy the adults only pool area.
Would I call this one “family friendly”? I guess you could bring the kids along, and they could have a good time, but it’s really better suited for leaving the kids back home while you enjoy the high-end experience. I suggest staying next door at the JW Marriott if you are looking for a family vacation. Your kids will enjoy the water slide and water park, and all of us doing the romantic getaway at the Ritz will thank you.
